SILICON VALLEY VOTES! PRESENTS STATE ISSUES ON THE NOVEMBER BALLOT

Oct 1 2008 - 6:30am
Oct 1 2008 - 8:30am

You've heard Obama, you've seen McCain. But do you know that there are also 12 state initiatives on the November ballot? These initiatives include:

  • $15 billion in new state debt - on top of the $16 billion state deficit
  • Green energy and vehicle initiatives which many environmental groups oppose
  • An alternative proposal at political redistricting 3 years after the first failed
  • 3 different propositions on public safety - each a different vision of our criminal justice system
  • Gay marriage ban

Seems confusing? Come learn the facts behind the rhetoric! Silicon Valley Votes is proud to bring you an opportunity to discuss these issues in an informative, non-partisan environment. You will learn more about the actual text, history, issues, and context of each initiative. We will have speakers from the League of Women Voters, a national organization that has 80 years of experience doing policy analysis and voter education.

On Thursday, October 9th, the beautiful Samsung Hall in the Asian Art Museum will be converted to a runway for models and actresses from Korea to present a modern Hanbok fashion show alongside premier fashion designer, Kim Hye-soon. The modern hanbok has gotten a lot of attention in Korea and Asia, in general, and has recently started to come West (Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Sandra Oh, and even Hillary
Clinton is wearing them).
