KAPS Professional Foodies: Exploring Non-Profits
Red Cross, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Doctors without Borders...All are not-for-profits making a difference in the lives of the less-privilegedless privileged around the world. While volunteers play a crucial role, especially as board members, in operating such not-for-profits, these organizations are usually corporations operated by professionals from various backgrounds.
For KAPS Professional Dinner #3, we will be discussing careers in non-profit and the considerations one must make, such as the financial impact and the compromise between personal career growth vs. job satisfaction.
Please come join KAPS and explore the Non-Profit industry with our special guest, Keith Kamisugi, who has successfully built a career in the non-profit world.
Keith Kamisugi is the the Director of Communications at the Equal Justice Society, a 10-year-old civil rights nonprofit based in San Francisco. The $1.8 million charitable organization has nine full-time employees. He serves as a director or trustee on the boards of the Asian Law Caucus, Chinese for Affirmative Action, San Francisco Japantown Foundation, Nichi Bei Foundation and the Chinatown Community Development Center. Keith was previously a spokesman for Verizon Communications and an account manager with the now-defunct Niehaus Ryan Wong Public Relations, a pioneering tech PR firm. He also worked on the executive staffs of two Hawaii governors after serving as student body president at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

Stanford Study on Asian-American Skin Cancer Needs Your Help
The Dermatology Department from Stanford University would like to invite you to fill out a questionnaire. This survey will be completely anonymous. We are investigating knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding skin cancer prevention and detection among Asians living in Northern California. We encourage both Asians and non-Asians to complete the survey. Asians are an understudied population regarding skin health. They are genetically distinct from Caucasians, and their cultural beliefs and socioeconomic patterns are likely to influence their knowledge, attitudes, and practices surrounding skin cancer prevention and detection.
Our survey will take approximately 10 minutes to fill out. You must be 18 years old or older to fill out this survey.
Please complete the survey at the following address:
http://med.stanford.edu/survey/asianskinca
Please feel free to forward to friends and family, however, they MUST reside in Northern California. Your assistance is appreciated!
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Katherine Connors, at (650) 721-7159 or kconnors@stanford.edu.
