KAPS Professional Foodies Important Update!

Due to unforseseen circumstances, we are unfortunately delaying the next dinner from this week to July 28th! However, on a much more positive note, we will be joined by special guest, Keith Kamisugi, who has successfully built a career in the non-profit world.

The $1.8 million charitable organization has nine full-time employees. He serves as a director or trustee on the boards of the Asian Law Caucus, Chinese for Affirmative Action, San Francisco Japantown Foundation, Nichi Bei Foundation and the Chinatown Community Development Center. Keith was previously a spokesman for Verizon Communications and an account manager with the now-defunct Niehaus Ryan Wong Public Relations, a pioneering tech PR firm. He also worked on the executive staffs of two Hawaii governors after serving as student body president at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Dinner #3 Description:

Red Cross, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Doctors without Borders...All are not-for-profits making a difference in the lives of the less-privilegedless privileged around the world.
While volunteers play a crucial role, especially as board members, in operating such not-for-profits, these organizations are usually corporations operated by professionals from various backgrounds.
For KAPS Professional Dinner #3, we will be discussing careers in non-profit and the considerations one must make, such as the financial impact and the compromise between personal career growth vs. job satisfaction.

Dinner #3 Details:

Where: FIVE, 2086A Allston Way, Berkeley, CA 94704 (www.five-berkeley.com, http://www.yelp.com/biz/five-berkeley)

Reminder: The Basics

We will be organizing monthly dinners for members to come together and enjoy conversation over delicious food in a casual atmosphere. Seating will be limited to a maximum of 10 (members given preference over non-members). We will also be choosing a topic of conversation to discuss to keep things interesting so if you attend, please come prepared to state your opinion! *Depending upon the topic, we will have special guests join us for dinner. Restaurant and conversation topic will change for every dinner so please keep looking for future dinner locales and themes. Dinner cost will be shared by the table.
