COMMUNITY SERVICE EVENT: SF FOOD BANK
Save the dates! KAPS would like to reprise our efforts in helping the SF Food Bank meet its goals. We have become an official Apple Corps team at the SF Food Bank. Our group has committed to one year's worth of activities to help fight hunger year-round, beginning Saturday, November 7, 2009 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
The last community service event with the SF Food Bank was a great success! Box after box, we stuffed and sealed and packaged. Along the way, some of us fell, others spilled oatmeal, and everyone laughed and learned more about one another. The end result was this: 18,000 pounds of cabbage and 1,056 pounds of oatmeal were repackaged and distributed into the hands of those who need it most. It was no small feat.

Please save the following dates: 11/7/2009, 2/20/2010, 5/22/2010, and 8/21/2010 from 9AM - 12PM at the SF Food Bank.

BAY AREA PREMIERE OF IMMIGRATION WARFARE DOCUMENTARY
Dear Friends,
Please join us for the Bay Area premiere of a highly anticipated documentary film 9500 Liberty on October 29th at the Sundance Kabuki Theatre. After winning the Best Documentary Award at Charlotte Film Festival and opening to a sold-out audience in Washington DC, 9500 Liberty comes to San Francisco to both share this extraordinary film with the Bay Area community and to raise vital completion funds to enable the film to achieve broad distribution. We need your support to make this event a smashing success.
About the Film
9500 Liberty chronicles the immigration culture war that tore apart a wealthy suburb of Washington DC. The filmmakers capture the escalating conflict as it unfolds in the streets, in online forums, and in the halls of county government. In the end, the film endeavors to provide a cautionary tale of the devastation that may yet unfold at the national level, as well as a blueprint for how to avoid the same tragic social and economic consequences on a far greater scale. (You can view the trailer at www.9500Liberty.com).
The film has also won over America's most popular novelist, John Grisham, who became convinced that "the film makes it clear that when we, as a nation of immigrants, debate the immigration issue, we are defining our very identity as Americans."
About the Event
