KYOPO PROJECT FUNDRAISER TICKETS

KAPS is proud to announce a special fundraiser for the KYOPO Project being held at Vessel SF (85 Campton Pl, San Francisco 94108 – www.vesselsf.com) on Wednesday, May 6th, 2009, 6-9pm.

Cindy Hwang (CYJO), a photographer from NYC began The KYOPO Project in 2004. She has photographed and interviewed over 220 kyopo (overseas Koreans) who have grown up around the world, mainly from America. Those profiled include Juju Chang, Elaine Kim, Yul Kwon, Bobby Lee, Corey Lee and the Ahn Sisters. The KYOPO Project (www.KYOPOproject.com) aims to explore and encapsulate KYOPO history by creating a photographic and textual book to educate the public. What had initially started as a project on Koreans or Korean Americans became a project that encompassed the world. Cindy will showcase her work at the Smithsonian in DC next Spring, but she would really like to increase awareness and also publish a book of the essays and photographs of the Kyopos she interviewed.

Guest Emcees and Keynote Speakers include: James Sun, NBC’s “The Apprentice” Finalist and CEO of Zoodango.com, Yul Kwon, CBS’ “Survivor: Cook Islands” winner and community leader, and Sue Kwon, reporter, CBS5 Eyewitness News.
Guest Performers include: Bobby Choy (Big Phony) – singer/songwriter, Maggie Kim – singer/songwriter and her band, and Susie Suh- singer/songwriter.

Silent and Live Auction include: Meals with Mayor Jun Choi and Yul Kwon, Autographed original jersey by Hines Ward, Ski Chalet one week vacation at the 5-star, 5-diamond Stein Erickson lodge, HBO DVD sets, etc.

Entrance fee is $100 fully tax-deductible. Check, cash, credit card and company matching donations accepted.

Spread the news and bring your friends to help make a difference and encapsulate KYOPO history. Make sure you join us for this very special night!

BE A PART OF ASCEND LEADERSHIP'S ANNUAL MBA FORUM

MBA. Career & Industry Transition. Innovation. Networking.

Are these all buzz words you’re too familiar with? Are you currently an MBA candidate and worried about the state of the job market? Or are you pondering whether an MBA is right for you?

If your answer to any of these questions is yes, then you are invited to join your peers and guest speakers from both industry and major universities at Ascend’s inaugural MBA Forum at this year’s Inspiring Across Generations conference at the new Intercontinental Hotel in San Francisco on Saturday, June 6th.

This forum will provide an opportunity for you to learn from a few insiders on what to expect and how to maximize your MBA experience. A wide range of perspectives and advice will be provided to you by industry leaders, students, alumni and career advice professionals from world-class local universities. The format will be a short panel discussion followed by an informal roundtable styled discussion led by one of our esteemed speakers.

If you are considering an MBA and want to know some of the important questions you need to ask yourself, this event is for you. For those of you MBA candidates looking for an exit strategy (hint: a job), our goal is to help you successfully navigate your journey.

Please email Aaron Fung at aaron.fung@ascendleadership.org if you are interested in attending. We look forward to seeing you there!
