Golf Tournament with KAPS, KABA, KASE, AND KAC KAPS is proud to partner with KABA, KASE, and KAC to host this year's fall golf tournament. The tournament will be Saturday, Oct 11th at 11:00 am at the great Metro Golf Links in Oakland (10051 Doolittle Dr, Oakland, CA). The cost will be $100/per person (covers green fee, cart fee, prize fund, range balls, and box lunch) - and includes a free cocktail reception and the chance to win special prizes. Did you know? Blood cancer patients (i.e. leukemia or lymphoma), who are in need of a marrow transplant, have a difficult time finding their life saving match because there are not enough people listed on the National Registry. Because matching is dependent on genetics, this process is even more difficult for patients that have a diverse ethnic background. There is a severe shortage in Asian Americans on the National Registry: out of the 7 million donors, only 7% or of Asian descent, making it nearly impossible for an Asian patient to find a match. You can help this cause by registering to be a potential marrow/stem cell donor, or by volunteering this weekend at the Ia-Oe E Ka La Hula Festival. Volunteers will work with the Asian American Donor Program (AADP) to help increase the minority representation on the National Registry by registering more potential marrow/stem cell donors. AADP will be at the festival on Oct. 31 (3-8pm) and Nov, 1 and 2 (10-4) - see below for more details.
